Research continues to show that the quality of school facilities is an important predictor of student achievement, teacher retention, and teacher attrition. Poor indoor air quality, lack of thermal comfort (heating and air conditioning), poor classroom lighting, low levels of natural daylight, and ambient noise levels are all factors related to building condition and comfort. Children cannot effectively learn in dilapidated buildings and deserve to be educated in healthy facilities.
